Vegas ... Day 1

What a fun day!

Since it's Saturday & our friends both work, they decided to show us around (so we would feel comfortable driving next week) Vegas. We slept in until 9AM Oklahoma time, which ended up being 7AM Vegas time!

After a slow starting & relaxing morning, we set out! First we saw where my friend teachers choir at a local high school.

After that, it was off to our first cheap lunch buffet! I could tell you all about the great food, and how beautiful The Green Valley Casino was (see a couple of pics below).  BUT the real story here was just how much an 11 year old and an 8 year old can eat!  WOAH!

Meet 11 years old boy's & his complete menu:

6 pieces of pizza
1 donut
1 mini red velvet cupcake
2 mini cheese balls
5 eggs rolls with sweet & sour sauce
1 ice cream cone with m&m's & oreo shreddings
1 mint chocolate chip shake
1 Glass Mt. Dew
1 Slice Cheese Cake

Now for his kid sister, 8 year old's menu:

1 1/4 Glass of Sierra Mist
1/3 Ice Cream Cone
1 Fortune Cookie
5 Egg Rolls
1 Serving Size Broccoli & Beef
1 Serving Size White Rice & Sweet & Sour Sauce

Um, I did not think that these tiny children could put away so much food.  It was truly extraordinary!

After lunch we walked through the casino & across the street to The District.  It's a lovely little outdoor mall.  We enjoyed visiting stores I've always wanted to visit, Anthropologie, DownEast Basics and REI, for example. This was purely WINDOW (and inside) shopping.  No money spent, but a fabulous experience.

Next we drove down by the strip & were shown where we can park for free behind Treasure Island hotel & casino. A short walk through the building & we were out front & on the strip. Next we walked down to The Venetian casino & hotel. What a beautiful building! We walked through the shops & saw a few live performances, used the restroom & Mr P admired the amazing architecture and trim work.

A walk back to the car & just a 20 minute drive home! I tell you friends, if you visit Vegas, this seems to be the way to go!
